The story of Japan Primavera
Japan Primavera was born from a dream, a journey and
a deep passion for Japan that has accompanied me throughout my entire life.
How it all began
My love story with the Land of the Rising Sun began during my childhood, in front of the television, fascinated by the wonderful animated series of the time, such as Urusei Yatsura, Candy Candy, and The Rose of Versailles.
That childhood fascination became a reality years later, during my film studies in the United States at the New York Film Academy. There, I met many Japanese students who became close friends and represented my true cultural bridge to their home country.
My first journey and my encounter with kokeshi dolls (2008)
In 2008, I fulfilled my dream of travelling to Japan for the first time. It was love at first sight, especially because of the extraordinary beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
It was during that journey that I purchased my very first traditional doll: the renowned Kosode Kokeshi. That work of art was not merely a souvenir, but the seed of what would later become my future.
The birth of Japan Primavera and our evolution
Thanks to the support and contacts of the valued friends I met in New York, I was able to establish direct relationships with outstanding suppliers and workshops throughout the country, including the historic city of Kyoto.
2011
Japan Primavera was officially founded, with the aim of bringing the poetry of Japanese craftsmanship and excellence directly into Italian homes.
2017
Our team expanded and was completed by the arrival of my husband, Vlado, who shares the management and vision of the project with me.
Today
Our dedication has enabled us to achieve extraordinary milestones. We currently collaborate directly with Kyoto Prefecture, internationally renowned artists, and some of Japan’s finest master artisans.
Our shop in La Spezia (since 2020)
After almost ten years of operating online, in 2020 we decided to give our collections a physical home. We opened our official shop in La Spezia, at 30 Via Papirio Picedi.
Our shop is not merely a retail store, but a small corner of Japan in Liguria. Here, you can experience first-hand the authenticity of our Kokeshi dolls, our refined decorative objects, and the unique pieces that we personally select for you, with the assurance of a supply chain of exceptional cultural value.
